Jolly Tots

Jollytots parent/carer and toddler group was set up in September 2005. It was funded initially by ABC Church and has been further funded by a grant from Wales Council for Voluntary Action (Gwraidd). It is currently run by Alison Watkins. We do not make a charge for the weekly sessions, but there is a donations box in reception, should you wish to make a contribution. Monies placed in this box cover the food and drink that you and children will receive. Craft, materials and ongoing costs are funded by ABC church.

The weekly sessions begin at 9:30am, and for the first hour the children enjoy playing with the toys while the parents/carers enjoy a chat! As people tend to arrive at various times, there is usually no organised activity during this first hour. A baby changing room is located just outside the main hall doors, and there are potties available in both the ladies and men’s toilets.
 
At 10:30am we all gather in the reception area where the children and adults will receive refreshments. Disposable bibs and wet wipes are provided for your convenience. Baby food or bottles can be heated in the kitchen area. Some of the parents then help clear the tables and wash up whilst the children return to the main hall for the weekly activity. This could be painting, sand and water play (you may want to bring a spare pair of trousers to go home in), a craft activity or playdough. During the summer months, if the weather is hot, we take the children across to the recreation ground opposite the church where they can play with the paddling pool and various other outdoor toys. You will need to bring a swim nappy/ bathing costume, towel, sun hat and cream for these (rare!) days.

At 11:15am we all tidy away the toys together, hopefully teaching the children that tidying up is a necessary part of enjoying themselves. You never know, they may just try it at home too!

From 11:20am to 11:30am we get together to sing. The children play along with their musical instruments and we encourage everyone to join in with them and take part.
 
Each month you will receive a newsletter detailing the activities for the month and any local and Church events that you may be interested in attending. A contact form is available for you to complete so that you can be notified if Jollytots is cancelled at the last minute and your children can receive a birthday card and cake to celebrate their big day! Aside from the weekly sessions, we have an annual trip in June to a local children’s attraction such as Folly Farm. We travel together by coach and everyone has a fabulous day!  

Jollytots provides a carnival team every year to put together all the costumes and build all the floats and accessories for the Ammanford Big Day Out. All the volunteers get together every Thursday night at the church for weeks before the big day. They have loads of fun together, and by the time the big day arrives their hard work pays off and everything comes together to make a spectacular display.
