Ammanford Big Day Out
The Ammanford Big Day Out is an annual event organised by Carmarthenshire County Council and Ammanford Rotary and replaced the old Ammanford Carnival. ABC Church has been involved in the event for years now, and each year our procession seems to get bigger and bigger. In 2008 over 100 adults and children took part in ABC's procession in the Mardi Gras style parade, and over 6,000 turned out to see the event.
Alison and all the volunteers of Jolly Tots, our parent and toddler group, get together every Thursday night at the church for weeks before the big day to put together all the costumes and build all the floats and accessories for the big day. They have loads of fun together, drink loads of coffee, and by the time Saturday comes it all miraculously falls into place. The Big Day out is something the Church looks forward to every year. Everyone involved from the youngest toddler to the oldest volunteer loves taking part as an expression of great community life.

Senior Pastor Eifion Watkins believes that for too long churches have not taken their rightful place in the heart of community life. Years ago community was built around chapel and school life. Modern lifestyle has changed and in many ways the church has not. At ABC we believe that community comes from the very heart of God. Family, Friendship and meaningful relationships were always intended by God and are at the very core of Christianity. It’s from the very heart of meaningful relationships between one another and the role that faith plays in them at ABC that causes us to spill out onto the streets of Ammanford at the big day.
